Sila Thai Menu

I have been to Sila a few times for lunch. When you drive up it's a bit unnerving not to see any cars in the lot. trust me, you'll be glad that you went in though! Nicely decorated about what you would expect and the service is quick and friendly. I'm pretty vanilla with Thai Food and love their Pad Thai with Chicken. It's served with a soup or salad and a dumpling accompanies the dish....score! The pad thai is well done and plentiful, out of all the pad thai's I've had this wins hands down. I hate to go to a sit down restaurant for lunch and have to spend a lot of money. Sila is affordable and if you leave hungry it's your own fault. Great locally owned restaurant. Well done Sila!!

See pics of our entrees. Everything was fresh and delicious. It's unfortunate they aren't in a better location, but that fact does keep it cool ans serene inside-one of Rock Hill's best kept secrets! We both had curries (pineapple and yellow), and enjoyed the soup (egg drop) and house salad. The Thai tea wasn't the best I've had (a little too bitter and nothing fancy), but still tasty. I'll be back whenever I want Thai in the area!

I was pleasantly surprised with how good this Thai was. The place was empty in a dated building off of a less traveled road. Perhaps thats what made all the difference. Expect fresh herbs and spices in addition to Sila delivering on Thai Hot! You want it they deliver. Timely, unobtrusive service. I will be back...

I went with my co-workers to this place and I would go back if I was in Rock Hill craving Thai, but it's not the best Thai I've had. Good, yes....

Place is very small but intimate. Service was slow very slow but once the food arrived it was seasoned just right. I had ginger chicken rice and hubby had beef fried rice. The fresh rolls were BIG and the peanut was a nice flavor. First timer but will.be back!!

I found this restaurant by reading the prior Yelp reviews and I have to say that they are spot on. There were less cars in the parking lot than I would like but the food was great. What a great find for a weekday lunch. My party consisted of five people from SF who were in town for work. Hands down they were surprised that a small place in Rock Hill had Thai food "as good" as any Thai restaurant on the west coast. Most people in the place appeared to be regulars on lunch break. Among the group we had chicken or vegetarian Pad Thai as well as the curry chicken and everyone enjoyed their food. The salad dressing was a hit. I frequently eat spicy food and a "4" out of "5" had me sweating. The only thing that keeps me from giving them five stars is that I really try to reserve that for the best places. I am also lowering at least one of my prior evaluations of another Thai restaurant.

Awesome food. Empty parking lot is a mystery. Try it. Lovely ambiance and tasty entree. Try the white fish with mango or yellow curry. Excellent!

Not sure why the parking lot and restaurant are always empty, but this place is great! We always get the curry puffs, pad thai, and try a new type of curry and we have NEVER been disappointed. Really, come try it, tell your friends! If this place closes I'll be distraught. It's also the only Thai restaurant we can find in Rock Hill and boy did we score!

I am not normally a Thai-eater but I have been here once for a work function and the food was wonderful. They cater to any specific requests and are very friendly. The atmosphere is good as well.

We eat here quite a bit for business lunches and it is always fantastic. Rarely do I stray from Pad Thai, because it is simply awesome. The portions for lunch are good, and the dinner portions are borderline too big, but it gives you a choice to bring some home for later, or leave so full you can barely walk to your car. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

One less star because a bit pricy. $15 a dish for so-so portion. However, food was delicious and service was good.

    Yellow curry was awesome!

I went in around 8.45 pm on a weekday. The customer service was very casual. The guy who took the order was dressed in shorts. I asked him what the sila fried rice was...he said it is a dish...(oh wow I didn't know that)...the wings I ordered was dry and smelled like it had been reheated...the fried rice was however pretty good and I liked that...but everything else was a joke...

The other posts were correct in saying don't be fooled by a nearly empty parking lot. Everything we had was excellent: house salad with peanut sauce, spring rolls, red curry chicken and fried ice cream. The Thai tea and hot tea were good as well. The only negative for us was the use of profanity by a waiter within hearing range and the profanity in the music playing at the time, which was later turned off. I was initially put off by this, but liked the food enough to give it another chance.

Came here for work with a co-worker while on a business trip. The parking lot was empty which did scare us a bit, but WHOA the spicy basil meals were delicious. I had the one with the fried egg, my co-worker had the basil stir-fry. Both were very good. Also tried the chicken satay. Where I live I have great thai places around and it is rare to find a decent place when traveling to areas such as NC/SC, however Sila Thai was great.

Rock hill is sleepin on this place! The parking lot may be empty but the food is absolutely delicious. The food is fresh, the service is fantastic give it a try!

  • Julie S.

Don't judge this place based on the parking lot! It was a lot emptier than every other chain in town but the food was great! The pumpkin curry was excellent, I would give that dish 5 stars hand down! The noodle dish we had was also very good but the curry really wowed us. I will eat here again when passing through Rock Hill.

Sila is the best Thai restaurant I have been to in the area. I am baffled that the parking lot is empty - don't be fooled by this. This place is a must try for all. The Thai dumpling is outstanding as is the Pad Thai and Duck Panang Avocado. In fact, everything I have had here is delicious. Very intimate feel inside.

Solid option for take out Thai food in the Fort Mill/Rock Hill. Not the best Thai food I've ordered, but, likely the best in York County. I think Thai Taste in Dilworth wins out slightly for the metrolina area.

I absolutely love this restaurant. Their food is delish! I've dined here at least 5-6 times now and it has never been a disappointment. The quality and authenticity of their food reminds me of my mom and aunts' home cooking. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem. For those who haven't dined here yet, ya need to check this place out.

I love this place. The lunch specials are a pretty good deal and the food is great. the service is always friendly.

OK - so you pull up to the building and it is a Chinese restaurant on the right side and a Thai restaurant on the left side. Same building, but not connected. That is just the beginning of the oddities of Sila Thai. And I don't mean that in a bad way at all! The food at Sila Thai ranks up there with the best I've ever had, and that includes Thai in NYC, Washington DC, Los Angeles, SF, Seattle, etc. When you dfactor in the location and decor, it makes it that much better. It is almost like the first time people heard Susan Boyle sing. They saw her and thought, this is going to stink. Same with Sila Thai when you pull up to a building shared by two restaurants. Then, people heard her sing and their jaws dropped, just like mine did the first time I had the Red Curry. Perfectly spiced, with heat, but not at the expense of flavor, I knew Sila Thai was going to be one of those hidden gems. I pretty much go once a week or more now and I think I've tried everything on the menu once. Can't say there has ever been a miss. I personally like the rice dishes. The Sriracha rice is fantastic. you can add whatever protein you want, or no protein at all, so it is also vegetarian friendly. The food is fresh, fast and tasty. The service is prompt. I will caution that if you order a dish with shrimp, the shrimp will come out with the tails still on. I don't mind it that way, but it did put a few people off I was with. My personal favorite is the mish-mash of goodies waiting by the front door when you leave. I've seen everything from Rice Krispy treats to coconut balls to energy bars in the bowl, free for the taking. Sort of fits the theme at Sila - you just can't judge things based on what you traditionally think. If you do, you'll drive right by it, and that's a shame.

Such a hidden gem, and probably some of the best Thai I've ever had! Came here for dinner with my hubby while passing through Rock Hill from Charlotte. If this place were somewhere less remote, then I'm positive it would be much, much busier. The Thom Kha soup and the Panang Curry were delicious and so flavorful. Service is friendly! We'll definitely be back, even though Rock Hill is a bit out of the way for us.

  • Tony T.

Amazing! I judge Thai by Thom Kha and this place is one of the best. The Thom Kha was a little fresher tasting than most places and was Very well rounded and perfectly spiced. Wifey and I split a large Thom Kha and a Vegetable Tofu Panang. The Panang was perfect as well -- no soggy veggies and again, flavored just right. The Thai Tea was also very good. Came here based on the yelp reviews while passing through Rock Hill, and I agree: don't judge Sila by looks, it's a hidden gem. .. Wifey also mentioned the napkins smell good and freshly laundered ;)

This place has been different things, but the food's always been really good. I started out really funny about Thai food, but now it's one of my favorites, thanks to eating here. The dishes they serve are closer to authentic vs. something more Anglo-friendly, which makes it even better. I love their curries, prik king... really I love anything that's spicy and loaded with fish sauce. I love their desserts. This is also probably the only place in Rock Hill that has boba tea! It's good, too.

  • Lori L.

Their prices are awesome! Lunch menu is great. I get the pad kee Mao and they give you a ton of food. Very flavorful and spicy!! Tom yum is good and spicy and very refreshing. Only complaint is that sometimes it's so hard to make a to go order. Tried to place one and the woman on the phone didn't understand anything I was saying. It got to the point that she gave the phone to someone else and when I asked to repeat the order, it wasn't correct. I told her the correct order. When I came to pick up my food, it still wasn't correct and they had to fix it.

Everything was simply delicious. Don't let the outdoor appearance or decor fool you. This place is awesome. We had clear soup, Tom yum soup, dumpling sampler, spring rolls, chicken satay, pad Thai chicken and garlic chicken. I am not kidding... every item was top notch Thai. I highly recommend Sila. Even the water was tasty. ;-) Easy parking and great service too.

Really decent Thai food for the area. I don't know if I can agree with the reviews that it's at par with Thai food restaurants in DC or other big cities, but it will definitely satisfy a craving. Staff was friendly, quick, and the food was served fresh and hot. I had spring rolls, pad thai, and mango with sticky rice.

Great Asian food is hard to come by in Rock Hill. Fortunately, Sila is one of the best Thai places in the Charlotte-Metro region. The food is absolutely wonderful. There's not a lot of competition in Rock Hill for best Asian food, but Sila wins handily.

  • Sarah W.

Delicious! Best Thai food I've ever had. I highly recommend this place! I ordered the Pad Cha with chicken (probably the spiciest item on the menu). The flavors were insanely good and the dish was super spicy as promised. My husband ordered the Prik King with chicken which was equally good. So glad we found our go-to Thai place now that we've moved to the Charlotte area!

There is a great assortment to choose from. They seem to have some pretty authentic dishes as well, although I am not a Thai expert. My boyfriend and I both enjoyed our dishes.

Great place. Very quiet. Food was great. In town for the velodrome. Had Pad Thai the first visit and now Pad Ki Mow. I liked the Ki Mow the best.

Came here for lunch, and was seated promptly. The menu has your standard Thai fair, and the ambiance was pretty casual. I ordered the Pad Thai, the standard go to for those to lazy to explore the menu, and it was pretty good. However, the seafood soup it came with was terrible. It was gelatinous fish broth, with no seafood in it at all. Service also took awhile to bring the check, and we were left waiting for 10 minutes after we were ready to go. I'll come back here, and make sure to avoid the seafood soup.

Wow. I hate to write a bad review b/c the people are nice, & are just trying to run an honest business, but I'm BAFFLED by the reviews. I just moved back to Rock Hill from ATL, & spotted Sila when looking for a Thai place. I was encouraged when I saw the reviews, but was deeply disappointed. I've been 3 times total, having had the Tom Kha, Peanut Dumplings, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, & Panang curry. The food it edible, but that's about as complimentary as I can be. I can only imagine that all the positive reviews are from people who are family/friends of the owners/staff, or people who have never even had middling Thai, let alone good Thai. It's sort of like people who get cappuccino from the gas station, & think it's just the best, not realizing that it's nothing like a real cappuccino.

    (1)
  • Chris B.

The Pad See Ew is by far the best that I've ever had here. The flavor is rich and moist and all of the meat is tender. The Garlic Noodles and Thai Dumplings are also excellent.

One of my favorite Thai restaurants. Stop here every time I'm in town from Wisconsin. Mom and Dad do all the cooking. They don't speak English which is because they are focused on making fabulous Thai food all day long. The mom does the soups and salads and dad does the main course. The son, March, is a kindly young man with a nice smile and great recommendations. Tonight I tried the Beef Salad, Tom Yum Soup, and Pad Ki Mow (flat rice noodle with spicy basil sauce and chili paste). Everything was delicious. The decor was nice, clean, and comfortable although a typical Asian/American restaurant decor. But it's the food that counts. Not far from I77 off Exit 82. Try it!

Service is always friendly and family oriented. Any thing you order will always be hot and fresh. Their pork larb salad and thai tea is always my go to.

We have been here twice and been delighted both times. We got the mango fish ,the pad Thai ,sautéed shrimp with ginger sauce, and sautéed chicken with cashew sauce and shrimp rolls as an appetizer and the chicken satay and they were all some of the best Thai food we've ever eaten. The service is very attentive food came out quickly and it was just an overall wonderful experience. We will be back over and over and over.

I don't understand why this place is not as popular as the food is pretty good. I think the decor makes it very sad looking. Maybe a change to brighter paint color or more lights need to be turned on. They should have a bell when you open the door so they know someone walked in as I was waiting for a bit for someone to notice me. The menu is very wordy and needs some pictures so folks know what they are ordering. I ordered a Thai iced tea, tom yum soup with chicken, and Best Friends stir fry dish which is shrimp and squid mixed with vegetables. The iced tea was great. The soup although I'm used to Thai spice, I thought was a thad on the spicier side so might scare folks away. Don't get me wrong I still really liked it. Next my stir fry was a good portion of squid and a few shrimp. I liked the flavor but a bit too much on the sweeter side for me. Still very good. I think I was craving Asian food and really wanted rice so I gobbled everything up, even the rice. Next time I'll come back and try the curry dishes. You guys should give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Sila Thai is a great lunch spot for those of us that love Thai food. The food here is traditional Thai. The decor looks like many Thai restaurants I've been to. It has that...we're in transition with our decorating look...which we all know...is the look of almost all the Thai restaurants we've been to. I had the Pad Thai and have to say, it was exactly what traditional Pad Thai tastes like. I loved that they bring you a hot and sour soup as an appetizer, it was delicious and the tofu was firm but flavorful. I enjoyed that the Pad Thai came with a miniature spring roll and a little red cabbage on the side. The hot scale goes from one to five stars. I got a major head shake of "no" when I even asked how hot the five stars was. I ordered the four star...and my sinuses are completely cleaned out. I would recommend three stars for most people. Lastly, the service was attentive and very fast. My water stayed full...which is a huge factor for me at Thai restaurants. If you're not familiar with Thai food...I'd do a little homework before you go here. This is not a restaurant owned by born-and-raised Americans...so the conversation is going to be limited. Very happy to have you in Rock Hill Sila. I hope you do well!

Good Thai and includes a surprising amount of truly authentic (as in, what you'd find in Thailand) dishes as well as the expected curries and other Americanized Thai variants. I had the red curry with chicken and it was very good, though the chicken--while more than ample--wasn't really the best cuts of chicken: it had the kinda typical Asian restaurant rubbery chicken feel, honestly. The laab gai (marinated chicken) salad on the other hand however was the best version of this fine dish I've yet had, and I've tried it many places plus made it myself at home. The interior is very typical to Thai restaurants (elephants abound!) but perfectly nice and the service is prompt and friendly. I would certainly recommend this for Thai in the Rock Hill area.

What a hidden gem! Everyone in Rock Hill unite and go to this restaurant if you like Thai food!! We loved it and will be back again soon. I had yellow curry, which was one of the best ones I've had. The hubs had sautéed chicken and he loved it, too. Fast, efficient service, as well. Glad we decided to stop in!!

Parking lot was empty but based off yelp reviews we decided to stop in for dinner. So glad we did. Pad Thai was great and curry was also great. Really large portions with great customer service.
